Yekaterina "Kate" Mesic was born in Moscow, Russia. She came to the United States with her family in 1997. She obtained her B.A. degree in English from the University of North Florida in 2004, graduating number one in the English department. She went to obtain her law degree from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law in 2007. While in law school, Kate received a Book Award for her performance in the Trial Practice class and served as the Executive Research Editor for the Florida Journal of International Law.

Kate was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2007 and served as an Assistant State Attorney for the 5th Judicial Circuit in Ocala, Florida, where she tried numerous jury trials. She was admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida in April of 2009.
